We are two inclusive churches in Purley and Kenley, working together to serve God and our community. As we continue our journey towards becoming one worshipping community, we take turns worshipping at each church for our Sunday 10am Eucharist.
Where are we on Sundays in the weeks ahead? Please note that all services during the winter months will be held at All Saints Church, Kenley. St Barnabas Church cannot be heated and the Church Hall cannot be used. We will return to St Barnabas at some point in 2025.
The Epiphany Season began for us on Sunday 5 January, the nearest to the actual date. The Magi visited Jesus, coming from the east following a star. Then follows three Sundays to remember how Jesus is the Light of the world and how that Light is revealed in the world today.
- 26 January: All Saints - 10am The Eucharist. An account of when Jesus revealed who he was to the people of his home town of Nazareth.
- 2 February: All Saints - 10am The Eucharist: The presentation of Christ in the Temple (Candlemas). We end the Season of Epiphany with a celebration of light! Luke's Gospel jumps back to soon after Jesus was born when his parents presented him to God at the Temple in Jerusalem. We hear the reactions of the priest Simeon and the priestess Anna when they meet this holy child.
Four Sundays of Ordinary Time then follow as we prepare for the Season of Lent.
- 9 February: All Saints – 10am The
Eucharist
- 16 February: All Saints – 10am The Eucharist
- 23 February: All Saints – 10am The Eucharist
- 2 March: All Saints – 10am The Eucharist
- Our 10am services are celebrated with a spirit of joy and we sing both traditional and modern music. We follow the pattern of the Church's year, but are committed to justice within creation, including Creationtide and Black History month in our yearly patterns of service.
